Fear No More: The myths about the Global Talent Visa for IT specialists

Applying for a talent visa is a long and painstaking process. And we understand perfectly well that it causes a lot of anxiety, fears and difficulties. So let's look at the most common questions that our clients ask us about the UK Global Talent Visa (GTV) in the Digital technology category.

"I won’t be able to get GTV because I don’t work for an IT company"

If you are an IT specialist, then you can qualify for GTV, even if your company does not work in IT. The main thing is that your contribution is important to the success of the business.

"I don't have any innovations"

Innovation is not necessarily something global like the invention of a spaceship. It's simply an idea that solved a difficult problem, led to business growth, or was technologically effective. Don't suffer from impostor syndrome!

"I don't have a public profile"

It can be created: either independently or with our help. If the product you have developed is successful and public, you can attribute its fame to you using relatively simple evidence.

"I don't have an IT degree"

Tech Nation is not interested in your education at all. Your career path is what's important to them.

"I have a lot of irrelevant experience (consulting, outsourcing, etc)"

Your case can only be based on relevant experience. Therefore, if, for example, over the last 5 years you have worked for 2 years in consulting and 3 years in a Product-led tech company, concentrate on the latter.
